With two great wins this opening weekend in SCAC play the Lady Petrels should make an appearance in the D3Hoops.com top 25 poll this week. The Petrels are flying high and looking great thus far in the young 2007-2008 hoops season. At 5-0 and with great wins over Piedmont, a National Tourney team last season, and former D-I Birmingham Southern, the Lady Petrels are demanding respect and I'll be willing to bet that the D3hoops.com voters have taken notice.
With an average margin of victory of 25 pts the Lady Petrels have not only won their first five games, they have made a statement. These blowouts are not the result of a team playing its top seven players for 30 plus minutes; Coach Sattele has been able to get his younger players in the games early and often. Only the Birmingham Southern game was primarily played by the Petrels top seven, and Birmingham Southern is a Good team that has already defeated the D3hoops.com #11 McMurry University on a neutral site.
You can't expect every game to be a blowout and I guarantee they won't be. The SCAC has some really good teams that will definitely challenge the Petrels this season. I will admit that I thought Rhodes was going to be one of those teams, and maybe they will be come February but right now the Lady Petrels are playing at an intensity level that their opponents aren't ready for. It's been fun to watch thus far, and I have every bit of confidence that they are about to get their due respect in this weeks D3hoops.com top 25 Poll. Keep up the good work ladies and let's notch two more victories this week over cross town rival Emory on Thursday and in-state rival LaGrange on Saturday.

How come the polls have not come out yet?
Also, why does it take so long for Oglethorpe to post the podcast of the games and hoops show?
The poll should be coming out in the next 30 minute. I'm not sure why the podcasts take so long post, I don't know if the process can be sped up or not, but the initial audio goes to some company out west that helps us broadcast the games and teh coaches shows, so I think it's uo to them to get everything available for us.
25th!!!
Well done ladies... continue to climb the ladder.
Interesting tidbit. McMurry- the #10 team this week moved up a spot with a 4-1 record... their one loss? A 6 point loss to Birmingham Southern.
I know that really means nothing other than all 3 teams are really close, but it also insinuates that we can play with the #10 team in the nation.
Brick I just want to say that 6 point loss came at a neutral site, where as the Petrels beat Southern at home. As we all know the Lady Petrels love their home and they just dont lose at Dorough it would be interesting to see the Lady Petrels play at B.S.
TIMAH! I just realized my tidbit of information wasn't really that special considering Brett already informed us of that information... whoops.
As wel all know Birmingham is only about 2 and 1/2 hours away... I say we organize a group of about 20to go to the game. We shall bring the Petrel Nation and the Dorough home court advantage on the road!
What do ya say?
Brick, a spectacular idea!!! Round up the troops.
Looks like the voters did just enough to give my comments some legitimacey.
OU4LIFE... if you'd like to be included it's necessary that you disclose your identity...
